Terms of use
A few straightforward terms for a tool built to keep your code close.

About these terms
Shelf is a code-snippet manager provided by Raghav Jhawar. These terms describe use of the app and website. App Store downloads are also subject to the license presented by Apple; see the EULA. Questions can be sent to contact@byraghav.com.
Shelf is currently in preparation for its App Store release. Feature descriptions on this website describe the app’s current design. Availability, supported devices, and purchase options are shown in the app and App Store listing when offered.
Your code and responsibilities
You retain your rights in the code and other content you save. Saving a snippet does not transfer ownership to Shelf. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions to save, use, and share that content and for complying with any third-party licenses.
Do not use the app or website unlawfully, to infringe others’ rights, or to compromise security. Protect credentials and review code before sharing. Shelf’s secret warnings are helpful checks, not a guarantee that every credential will be detected.
Suggestions and examples
AI-generated and heuristic suggestions may be inaccurate or incomplete. Review them before accepting or relying on them. Shelf does not execute saved snippets. Website examples are illustrative and are not executed in your browser. You remain responsible for checking code behavior, licenses, and suitability before using it in your projects.
Free and Pro subscriptions
Free permits up to seven snippets, with on-device suggestions, iCloud sync, the Share Extension, and keyboard access. Shelf Pro adds the features described in the app. New monthly and yearly subscriptions are the planned purchase options; lifetime purchases are not currently offered.
- Apple shows the current local price, billing period, trial eligibility, and applicable purchase terms before you confirm a purchase.
- Payment is handled through your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled according to the terms Apple displays. To avoid another renewal, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Eligible subscriptions may offer a seven-day trial. A trial may convert to a paid subscription unless canceled under the offer terms. Eligibility and availability are determined by Apple.
- Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. See Apple’s cancellation instructions.
- Use Restore Purchases in Shelf to restore eligible purchases associated with your Apple Account. Refund requests are handled by Apple; see Apple’s refund guidance.
If Pro ends, existing snippets remain readable, editable, copyable, exportable, and accessible through the keyboard. New saves are limited by the Free plan, and activation of Pro-only features requires Pro. Deleting data or uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription. Mandatory consumer rights and any refund rights under local law remain unaffected.
Storage, synchronization, and backups
Shelf works locally and can sync through your private iCloud database. Synchronization depends on Apple’s services, your account, storage availability, connectivity, and device settings. It may take time and is not an independent backup service. Keep exported backups of important work.
Extension behavior depends on iOS permissions and the app in which you use the keyboard. Some host apps and secure fields block third-party keyboards. Apple Intelligence features require compatible hardware and software; other devices use offline Basic suggestions.
External destinations
You choose when to export or share content. A chosen destination, including GitHub for optional Gist exports, operates under its own terms and privacy practices. Secret Gists can be viewed by anyone with the URL. Exported copies must be managed or deleted separately.
Privacy and deletion
The privacy policy explains local storage, iCloud, keyboard access, support, and website processing. Shelf does not operate a developer content server, but this does not make Shelf a cryptographic zero-knowledge service. You can delete the library in Settings → Profile → Delete All Shelf Data. Cloud failures can require a retry. Apple backups, subscriptions, and exported copies are managed separately.
Availability and applicable rights
We aim to keep Shelf useful and reliable, but cannot promise uninterrupted operation, compatibility with every host app, error-free suggestions, or loss-free synchronization. We may make updates as the app and Apple’s platforms evolve.
To the extent allowed by applicable law, the app and website are provided as available, without additional warranties beyond those required by law or the applicable app license. Nothing in these terms excludes non-excludable warranties, remedies, liability, or statutory consumer protections. The applicable App Store license describes additional license, warranty, and liability terms.
Changes and contact
Updates will be posted here with a revised date. Changes to subscription pricing or purchase terms are presented through Apple as applicable. For support, content, or terms questions, contact contact@byraghav.com.
